Free, open to Durham University students only.
In partnership with the British Film Institute the Industry Ready Training workshops will be delivered by film & TV industry professionals with the specific goal of preparing students who are about to embark on their careers in film / TV production.

Over the course of six hours, leading trainers will provide the key essential tools and information for students who are serious about finding work in film / TV production after graduation. The workshops provide honest, practical information from those currently working across the UK film & Television industry that can be deployed immediately.
Students will be supplied with a list of resources for further reading.
The Industry Ready Training takes place as a two-part event, students must attend both sessions.
Topics covered include:
- An introduction to working in the UK Film & Television Industry: this session will provide a look at the industry as a potential employer at this specific moment in time.
- Cover Emails and Looking for work.
- CV writing: Getting your CV to industry standard.
- From Script to Screen: Taking a single scene from a script and unpicking all the components, asking students to work out how things are made on a large-scale film.
- Set Etiquette: What to do and what not to do on set.
- Freelancing & Finances: Pay rates. PAYE vs Self Employed. Managing your finances.

How to write to companies and individuals to find work and resources for jobs, advice, training and information. |
4.30 - 5.30pm CV writing: Getting your CV to industry standard |
Expanding your network and networking in film / TV plus honing the key skills needed to thrive in production such as problem solving, communication and multitasking. |
